Team - Kanupriya Yadav (Individual)
Tools - Figma
Timeline - July 16, 2022- September 10, 2022
Accelth is an interoperable smart healthcare decentralized system for Urban and Rural India by integrating telemedicine, Unified Health Interface, and data visualization with an initiative towards Preventive healthcare. The system functions on smart contracts backed by blockchain technology for secured patient data privacy.

Problem
India’s healthcare system has been battling various issues for quite a while now. There’s a need to make the healthcare sector more transparent and accessible to patients.
How might we help patients connect and understand their health better, and leverage their data for better insights and care while protecting their privacy?
Goals
-
Help people to access and manage their medical records.
-
Integrate Interactive Data Visualization to represent complex medical data in a digestible graphical format to allow users to easily obtain qualitative insights, changes, patterns, and trends while drawing valuable conclusions.
-
Introduce Interoperability of data across various health sectors for a seamless flow of information while protecting patient privacy.
Solution
Feature Set
Mockups
The healthcare platform prioritizes streamlined interoperability, allowing for seamless data sharing across health sectors while safeguarding patient privacy, addressing the current gap in existing applications.
In the healthcare industry, the sharing of medical records is indispensable, and patients should have the ability to share their health records with medical professionals whenever necessary.

The medical history of individuals is often non-linear, with medical conditions arising, getting treated, and at times relapsing over time. As a result, a linear form of data storage is not be feasible.

Secondary Research
The objective of the research was to understand the communication of health information between the doctor and patient via EHR (Electronic Healthcare Record) systems.
Our medical history is non-linear, medical conditions arise, and get treated/ replaces time and again, therefore a linear form of storing data isn't feasible. It is important for doctors to know about the ongoing medical treatment before they can diagnose any further.
Primary Research
The primary research was conducted to identify the gaps and opportunities in the communication of medical history from a patient to a doctor and vice versa.
The study was conducted for a week, wherein I studied various patients and doctors via observations and interviews in hospitals in Navi Mumbai.
Understanding the Indian Healthcare System in a Nutshell
-
Strengths: Skilled healthcare professionals, traditional medicine practices, focus on technological advancements and telemedicine.
-
Challenges: Inadequate infrastructure, shortage of healthcare professionals, high out-of-pocket expenses, disparities in healthcare access, burden of non-communicable diseases.
-
Government initiatives: National Health Mission (NHM) and Ayushman Bharat scheme to improve healthcare access and affordability.

Empathy Mapping

Key Insights
Patients who develop multiple health conditions at the same time find it difficult to remember their conditions and medications, and they also miss out on important information when discussing their medical history with a doctor.

Gaps and Opportunities
-
Information Loss: Loss of data/ Miscommunication while communicating the medical history verbally.
-
Information Accuracy: Accurate information is needed by medical professionals before conducting any procedures or prescribing medications.
-
Information Access: Every individual has a right to their personal health information, this information is crucial for future medical conditions and emergencies.
-
Information Management: Managing medical records is essential with respect to the procedures and timeline.
-
Information Visualisation: Data visualization in the healthcare industry is the representation of complex medical stats in a digestible graphical format. It allows users to easily obtain qualitative insights, changes, patterns, and trends while drawing valuable conclusions.
-
Information Security and Interoperability: Interoperability of data across various health sectors is important for the seamless flow of information while protecting patient privacy.
-
Information Exchange: Sharing of medical records is indispensable in the healthcare industry, patients should be able to share their health records with medical professionals when needed, the access to this information although for a limited amount of time needs to protect privacy.

Accessibility Considerations

Impact
The project is set to revolutionize the healthcare industry. This system once realized would allow individuals to take charge of their own health by understanding the functioning of their bodies. It will lead to conscious decision-making in relation to nutrition, lifestyle choices, physical exercise, and the environment in general.
Urban Advancements
-
Setting up virtual appointments, and easy access to individual departments of doctors and testing labs.
-
Security of data, reduction in paperwork, and centralization of data with authenticated alteration access.
-
Implementation of preventive Healthcare using alerts for future health degradations and solutions for the same on mobile.
Rural Advancements
-
With improving connectivity across the globe, easy access to professional help.
-
Super quick access to tests(blood, etc.) and promise of getting reports within 24 hours on mobile.
-
Setting up online and offline appointments rather than waiting in long queues in government hospitals and avoiding delayed attention to serious cases.
Reflection
I learned
how to conduct detailed user interviews and then analyze them to generate problem statements and formulate solutions to those problems. Experiencing the entire product design process provided a thorough understanding of each step as well as a deeper understanding of the design thinking process.
I would change
Currently, the application has multiple important features, in order to create a much more comfortable user experience, I would like to concentrate on grouping screens under themes. Additionally, I would concentrate on developing a product roadmap to introduce various app features.
